Ok I have been using my AO5 with a few types of media. So far everything about this DVD backup has been a big crap shoot. Can anyone point me to the best media that will work on the recorder AND then work on my Apex 660, 1100W, and 1110 as I have 3 and cannot seem to test any RW disk on the 660.

My specs:

p4 1.8
1024 MB Rambus
Sony DVD drive
Fujitsu 30GB HD 7200RPM (FAT32)
Seagate 40GB HD 7200RPM (NTFS) (temp files from DVDxCopy are put on this drive)
Pioneer DVR-A05
Visiontek GF3 ti 500 (nvidia driver 40.72)* the latest drivers (41.09) will not let me play my DVDs
Creative Audigy
DVDxCopy 1.3
Phillips 201b monitor (21 inch) at 120hertz 1024x768 res
WinXP Pro ( SP1+ all the latest updates )

ABCman,

There's a whole slew of information on various forums regarding the Pioneer A05 woes with cheap media.

Check these forums out for the not so good news:

Yes the nvidia 41.09 seems to see the monitor as out to tv mode. As for the apex 660 it works for my friend after we upgraded the firmware for the player his is a 8-mm model dont know what firmware yours is as they are differant on lots od 660s go here http://www.nerd-out.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21781 to check more on this issue and get firmware if you can use it there is also a link to check your firmware before trying to upgrade as well.

Is it the firmware that comes on the drive (1.00) causing the problem? I just upgraded to the latest out (1.21). Thanks for the links I am going to try to find some good media....I just hope it doenst cost to much.
