Encryption issues? Care to elaborate what they might be?

As far as I am aware, 'In the Bedroom' backs up without issue but I will check and confirm myself.

Cheers..

I have never been able to back up successfully In The Bedroom with the old way, decrypter and ifoedit, or with dvdxcopy. Unfortunatley it was several weeks ago when I tried last and do not remember the exact problems or which version of xcopy used. But I don't think it is an encryption issue since it ripped fine. I believe it is an ifo issue dealing with multiple pgcs.

I ripped IN THE BEDROOM using DVDXCOPY 1.3 it seemed to work properly until I tried to play the DVD's. All I got was jumbled audio with no video.

<Sorry, but such discussion about using other software which circumvents protection by means of DeCss to backup DVD's is not appropriate to this forum>

<Mag>

But what do I know about this DVD stuff I'm just an overworked network administrator trying to burn DVD's. Let me know if I'm Krazy or what. Give it a try.

I should add, that today I backed up my copy of "In The Bedroom" using V1.3 without issue. Playback on both my Sony and JVC players was perfect.

See my sig for my system specs.

Pabbot:

I have no real idea.. All I know is I backed up my copy again today to reconfirm my own original findings and had no issue.

Maybe its an issue with the reader or even playback probs of some kind? Some players are a lot more forgiving of IFO issues than others...

*shrug*... I will do some more investigation for you... ask a few users I know who have also backed it up successfully and get back if I discover anything else.

Cheers..

Just a tid bit more info: My Players that I use are PC based and on two different PC's both being XP SP1 with DirectX 9 and all current windows hotfixes etc. The first Player is Intervideo WinDVD Platinum and the Second is ATI DVD 8.0 Both players on both PC's experienced the playback issues from the original DVDCOPY burn. Once I re-ripped them using the different method they played properly in all cases. I don't use a standard set-top DVD player as I use my HTPC to scale the image up for my HDTV.

Hi!

I am using 1.3.1

backup of several dvds ok, BUT I expereince the same color digital blocks when i try to play the backup of in the bedroom too!!

No sound.

The trailers work with sound, the main movie seems to start but you see nothing but colored blocks, like when you loose direct tv during a storm...

Burn goes ok with no errors.

ANy ideas?

See this thread also -> http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/19144

There are a few of us having problems with this movie. I'm currently playing around with DVDDecryptor and IFOEdit to see if a more manual solution works.

In The Bedroom

The only way I could back it up was with DCDdecrypter and IFO edit.

DVDXCOPY did do a good backup, but it was in French with French sub-titles.

I don't speak or understand French beyond one term of high school, so it was pretty useless.

It truly is a tough one.

adydula - DVDDecrypter is a free ripping tool. Coupled with tools like IFOEdit and Gear/Nero it provides another - much more manual - method of copying DVDs. After playing with these tools for the past couple of days I've definitely come to appreciate the ease of use that DXC provides!

adydula,

rilac is right. The struggle of working with freeware will soon not be worth it, as DXC continues to improve.

But you may be a lot smarter than I am, so if you want to try doing it that way I believe you can download freeware and guides from AFTERDAWN.COM

You'll get a lot of smarts about ripping, editing and burning, but you'll have to go thru a lot of pain and frustration on the way.

So I ditto rilac. DXC is re-inventing the wheel, and it just gets rounder and rolls better with every release.

The two are really not that difficult to use; I had posted a 5 step process here that is actually easier than DXC but my post was deleted because it was deemed inappropriate.

Personally, I thought it was a great troubleshooting tool - backup one way (DXC), backup another (Decryter/IfoEdit) and compare the results.

I'll try to post it to one of my websites and simply give the link here, unless THAT is deemed inappropriate also!
