Install went perfect. You still get some pixelation on the preview. If you try the preview a second time the whole preview screen turns to colored pixels. Sometimes clicking a 3rd or 4th time it works.

In Reign of Fire the initial dialog offers to split the main title before chapter 7 (there are 12 chapters).
If you use the spinners - in either direction - to choose an alternative split, the chapter number goes to 8 and will not move from there.

1.4.1 seems to work fine so far.
I did have pixelation on the preview on one of my dvd's (Pee Wee's big Adventure) but all the others looked great.
Also, the preview locked up on one of my dvd's (Gundam Wing).
But I think this was more of the way the dvd was made more than DVDxCopy.
My backup looks just like the ORG. thanks again for a great product 321.

Finaly decide to try 1.4.1 over my olad favorit 1.2.2 So far works great with no issues. Checked disks I had problems with " finding chapters " OK now - problem solved. I found one condition though that will make the program to lock up : If you start the program, insert a movie and let DXC recognize it, then change you mind about this movie and want to back up another one, if you remove the movie curenly in your reader and insert that other one - DXC will not reset to the new movie but instead will lock up. You must exit DXC and restart it every time you change a movie. It is a minor glich and shoould be easy to fix in next version.
So far - So good.
Thanks a lot from a happy customer

Funny, but even though pixelation disappeared on titles recorded with 1.4.1, it still shows on one Title: Eyes Wide Shut. Wonder why?

Found 2 bugs
1. If you start a burn and cancel the burn after a few mins (on a DVD-RW) the log window under the burn box doesn't refresh and you see a brown square shadow over the log text (a copy of the burn window that was not properly removed)
2. Inserting a DVD which has a DVD-ROM menu will make DXC crash. You can avoid this by holding the shift-key while inserting the DVD but it would be nice that we didn't have to do that.
Thanks
Raven
P.S.: DXC is getting better and better! :)

I can also confirm the 1.4.1 can backup movies with no volume name. Verified with Gear, I don't have external Nero.
backed up "A few Good Men" NTSC
On another note, wasn't someone having problems when their USB 2 external CDRW was attached to their computer ?. I have the Yamaha USB 2.0 external 48x CD-burner. It is always attached, but not powered on during backups. I never had a problem w DVDxCOPY.

InCD has been a problem with DXC from the very beginning. We would normally suggest that you remove InCD or Easy CD Creator versions under 5.
<Digit8ed wrote>
"Re-booted and left everything as was with first install of 1.4.1 Except unpluged usb2 CDRW then all went smooth until burn started. was gonna take over 2 hours :o( then while DXC was still running I did a control alt delete and stopped the InCD process in the task manager and the time started going way down to about 25 min. :o)"

The problem with invalid characters and disks with no label should be fixed in this release.
In the testing I have done with 1.4.1, it has not been a problem any longer.
<Whisperer wrote>
"Underscore_like_this wasn't a problem for Gear. It was empty spaces between words and punctuation marks like * or # or &,% etc. Anyone have success with said problem titles?
Thank you"

It has to do with the way that the drives recognize the +RW disk. After a format, it pops out the tray and you do manually have to push it back in.
It may be different than previous releases, but it is not a bug.
<pjaques wrote>
"Has anyone encountered the following situation with DXC v1.4.1?
1. Insert Movie in DVD writer drive. (auto insert notification turned off)
2. Run DVDXCOPY v1.4.1
3. Click "COPY NOW"
4. When Disc 1 is finished copying, Burning Dialog window appears.
5. Eject Movie DVD and insert Sony DVD +RW. (Yes, I test with +RW discs first)
6. Click QUICK ERASE and wait for Green icon on Target Drive in DXC.
7. Click BURN NOW.
8. After a few seconds, the DVD +RW disc is ejected and a Warning dialog window appears that says:
"Waiting for a Disk to be inserted".
9. Re-insert Sony DVD +RW Disc and then DXC burns the disc OK.
The copied DVD movies plays fine in my table top DVD player (Sony DVP NS315) so I can work around the problem. It's just a weird problem that I haven't seen before in previous DXC releases. I didn't read any similar complaints in the forum, so I am gathering that this problem only happens on +RW/-RW discs, not +R/-R disc. This doesn't appear to be movie specific because I have tried 2 different movies with the same result."

The disc still ejects automatically after a burn. We need to have an checkbox option (like other burning software) to allow or disallow ejection after a burn.
Thanks

The issue of the disc ejecting after being formatted must be limited to +rw media. It does not do that with -rw media.
I had a -rw disc , with a movie on it, in my Pioneer DVD-104. I started the copy, checked the output disc is ready option & walked away. When I came back the DVD-rw was ejected, but it had been formatted & the new movie was on it.
I used Gear drivers, if that makes a difference.

I had trouble with my external usb2 CDRW (Iomega 48 24 48) but that was also with InCD running so I am trying another movie - Monsters Inc and leaving it attached to see if maybe it was also the InCD that was causing the freeze after copying the movie to the hard drive

PeterMac,
The chapter split point selection buttons work as long as there is enough room on the disk for the changes that you are making.
Try removing some of the extra titlesets, and then try the chapter split point selector again.
Basically, you have 4.7 Gig of space to work with on each disk. If you have 4.2 Gig of space spoken for on that disk, and you try to change the split point, that will need to move extra chapter(s) onto the other disk which there may not be room for.
Look at what DXC reports as being the amount of info that is going to be burned onto each disk, and that will help you as well.

well, same thing happened with leaving Iomega USB2 48x24x48 plugged in and no InCD. It froze after copying movie to the hard drive. As soon as I unplugged the drive, everything came right back and appears to be doing fine again. Guess I just have to remember to unplug B4 using DXC. Seems a small price to pay for success! Home grown P4 2.5g 1gig DDR, WinXP pro SP1, 4)60 gig HD's JLMS 16x DVD-rom LTD-166s Pioneer DVD-RW DVR_AO5 (and the Iomega 48x USB2 thats disconected when running DXC)

Digit8ed,
I undrstand you get the freeze when the USB2 CDRW is attached, but is it powered on or off at the time. My USB2 CDRW is always attached, but is not turned on unless I am using it w Roxio CD Creator ( Latest Platinum version ).
I am also using XP Home sp1 with all the updates if that makes a difference. The CDRW is the only USB2 device, my CD burner & reader are IDE. THe hard drive that DVDxCOPY is writing to is SCSI.

One minor problem that has existed with EVERY version so far is the LOG window.
It simply does not refresh/repaint itself properly.
If I take my mouse and drag the texttool over it, I get all the lines to show, but it does not refresh properly on its own.
I have seen a few posts regarding this, so I know that I am not alone.

I found 1 thing new, that I think could be a problem. The "lapse"time when burning does not count down like it did.It took 1 min.17 sec.to continue. It always did that with "remaining",but it used to be a fairly consistant countdown in lapse. This COULD cause one to believe the program has frozen. It should not clip off at more than 10-15 sec. chunks. This is the first version that did this, and I can not figure the reason for it.

I'm running windows xp home with pentium 4. Installed latest version of DVDXCopy last night and it worked great! Made backup of "South Park" using Gear and HP DVD 200e with usb 2. I have all sorts of external usb hardware hooked up during backup and have had no problems at all. I made the backup onto a Ritek dvd+rw that had a movie already on it. DVDXCopy erased it and copied new movie without a hitch. I noticed that the entired process was much quicker than with previous versions.
