WHISPERER,instead of useing the litE-on to copy dvd movie, try your dvd burner to copy,if able to copy the movie then you will know it the lite-on drive.
my lite runs and copies with out any shake rattle and roll. I don't even know its running.

Sorry not to post for a while; getting a network upgrade up and running at work commanding my focus. Lots of little probs to fix. Thanks for all the advice. Will try sneakers again with 1.5.1.

Best regards

Can this movie really be backed up?

I've had no success with DXC 1.4.1, DXC 1.5.2, DXCX 2.0, DXCX 2.5, or even DXCX 2.5 with a TDF.

Both versions of DXC burn backups, however the first 4 of 16 chapters is missing. The Chapters Menu on the backup lists 16 chapters, but chapter 1 is really chapter 5, and chapters 13 and on will freeze the dvd if you try to jump to them. Where did Chapters 1-4 go? They sure aren't on the backup.

The backup attempts using Xpress versions neverget to first base. All versions go belly-up when you start the program - the old "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be terminated..." I keep looking for the MPAA police to leap out of the screen, ala "The Ring", and terminate me for illegal program operation...

I guess this is just one of those DVD titles that doesn't backup?

Grampaw - I had a number of discussions with Whisperer on Sneakers. It backed up just fine for me and most everyone else. Whisperer was one of two or three that had difficulty, which we were never able to explain.

Searching around on the web, It appears there are at least 3 DVD versions of "Sneakers" that have been released over the years, including a Collectors Edition that was apparently just released in the last month. I probably have a copy of the first release (I've had it a while) and that may be the problem, whereas most other people probably have a newer release, one that backs up with no problems.

Also - Used copies (who knows what release) are going for $7 US and the new Collectors Edition for $14 US by various Web merchants.

So I stand corrected - this DVD title can be backed up. Just have to have the right original.

Grampaw - I suspect I have the older release, like you, but I know for sure I had the same copy as Whisperer and he had no success in backing it, though I did, as well as many others. Go figure.
