Thanks Ballzo,

But are you saying that the fix will only be in a new Xpress version or also in DXC?

OK... Good news!!! I just fired up a copy of an internal build of DVDXCE.... And it's fixed!! Or at least shall I say it's fixed on my machine.. No more "Error 1337" issues, no registration problems. It looks like it's good to go.. And now we await the final release of the next updated version of DVDXCE. BTW, as a disclaimer, I haven't burned anything with DVDXCE so I can't comment on that... I can't comment on that because I never made it that far!!

Raven, regarding your question, and pardon my ignorance.... The 1337 error I thought was a problem specific to DVDXCE... If I missed the boat here, sorry. DVDXCE looks like it's fixed... You'd think logically that once they identify the source of the problem the fix could be incorporated into either version..
But that is strictly a blind assumption on my part..

But what I do know is that this build of DVDXCE has repaired the 1337 error...

Best,

Ballzo

Thanks Ballzo, do you work for 321Studios or are you providing a fix to 321?

Yeah the problem is in both versions...DVDXCopy and DVDXCopy Express.

I just installed the latest release candidate as well, and ran a test on the one test machine that we ran into the 1337 error with.

It is fixed on that machine as well.

321_Q/A,

Great news! Will this fix be incorporated into both DXC and DXC Xpress? I hope

Raven.. I am not employed by 321 Studios or any of their affiliates.. It's a long story, but suffice it to say that in this particular instance they threw me a lifeline and I assisted them in whatever way I could. We tested and got this issue resolved. I am attempting to find out right now if this fix will be incorporated into future versions of DVDXC. In the interim, perhaps someone else can shed some light on this.. Will advise when that information becomes available..

Best,

Ballzo

I have the conflicting app error too. I use Windows XP Pro. I have shut down everything apart from Explorer and Systray and it st5ill crashes. If I run in 98/ME compatability mode the program will load but as soon as it starts to run, it locks up. I had to go back to 1.4.1 again. I run Nero on my machine but no other burning/authoring programs.

I have the same problem that everyone else has runtime error 1337. Don't think it is software related. When i boot into safe mode i didn't get the error and was able register online. Which leads me to believe that it is a hardware issue (driver of some kind). Then when i started the program i just got the splash screen but no nothing else happened. The task manager did not show the program running either but the xpress process was running.

Raven,
As Ballzo said, the issue has been fixed, and I do think that there will be new versions of DXC and DXCX released soon that will have the 1337 error fix included.

Yours patiently waiting,

To the best of my knowledge, there are versions of both DVDXC AND DVDCXE that are in testing and do fix then 1337 Error. I believe 1.53 of DVDXC will fix 1337. I have no information as to when they will be available, but one would think it would not be too much longer.

Kosmas,
Ballzo is correct in what he said.

The fix should be included in both of our next releases (DXC V1.5.X and DXCX V2.5.X) which are currently in development and testing.

OK...I see I have found the bounty. I have been at another forum trying to get answers to the ERROR1337 I get with DXC v1.5, and finally stumbled onto this one and there is heaps of info about the error but alas, no real answers. So I will add fuel to the fire! ;-) I have an Athlon XP 2600+, SONY DRU-500AX (2.0f firmware), WIN XP SP1 Home Edition. After getting the ERROR1337 message with v1.5,
I uninstalled it and downloaded & installed the trial version (v1.5 a00032419_trial). Now when I start the program I stil get an error message which reads: "This program cannot work with SoftICE loaded". Now this seems to be a more specific message than the original "ERROR 1337: Conflicting Application is running...",could this be why some of us are having problems?
Because we have this 'SoftICE' application on our systems? I have no idea what it is or
where it came from. It's something to do with debugging I think, but I cannot find any instances of it in my registry, or system. The info on the web in regards to this app is confusing and I can't find out how to locate it on my PC and uninstall it. I hope this sheds light on the problem and I hope a fix is available soon. I want to buy the latest version of DVDXCopy, but not until I know
it works on my beast! ;-) I also tried running the latest demo of DXC Xpress...but I still get the same error message!
PS: Both programs work on my older PIII 600 without errors...my PIII is running stock standard WIN XP Pro (no MS updates)...could this mean that WIN XP Home Edition with the Service Pack 1 installed is creating this 'SoftICE, problem? Also, I reinstalled v1.4.1 and it works great!! However
I would like to buy the latest version of DXC here in Australia, but I am afraid that it too will have the same problems. If it does have the same problems (don't know how long software sits on the shelf in shops these days),will I be entitled to get a free upgrade to the fixed version that won't have the 'ERROR 1337' confliction, when it becomes available?

We encountered that in the initial phases of testing. I'm sure others have seen it as well.
Perhaps one of the Mods can clarify what SoftIce actually is.. I think it's internal 321 code pertaining to security and /or debug code. But if I'm wrong someone will kindly correct. Anyhoo, I felt the same jubilation as you... When I found the SoftIce Error.. But relax... You'll drive yourself bananas here...!! There is no fix aside from a new version of DVDXC and DVDXCOPY Express..There's nothing you can do to your system to correct this. This will all be taken care of shortly with new release versions.

Hang In There...

softice is a program used to debug low level code. Its mostly used by hackers, but it gets into your system at a pretty low level.

I have seen where softice has been installed with spyware. Of course, I have also seen that error when there was no spyware on a computer. As a safety precaution, try installing and running a spyware program. Disable all programs it finds.

Well... A most interesting subject.. SoftIce...
Maybe someone can clarify this.. Exactly where on one's system would this reside? I am spyware-free and still got the error.. There are certainly no references in the Registry that point to this.. Does it masquerade as something else?

smiley32,
Yea, you will be able to get the new version that fixes the 1337 Error.

That version was released to the Beta Testers today, and will probably be in Beta for a week or two.

Once it is out of Beta, we will release it to everyone.

Thanks to all for the info. I am currently using (successfully) DVDXC v1.4 with my SONY DRU500AX...so this will do for the interim :-)

I eagerly await the release of the fixed version.

By the way I am (when I get time) going to try and format the HD and reinstall DVDXC v1.5 before I install any other program and see if this works...???

My PC was also spyware free and I still got the ERROR message, but I think it's more to do with all the programs on my PC! Happens I guess when you have 160GB of internal HD space LOL ;-) Hopefully a format will clean things up ;-)

Thanks again to all

SMILEY

PS: Just to clarify things: if I buy whatever is the current version in the local retail store where I live, and it does not work (i.e. same error occurs), am I then still entitled to the fixed or latest update via the 321 Studio Support Website?

I fixed my 1337 problem by getting a cheap puter off eBay and installing a fresh version of XP and then DVDExpress - NOTHING ELSE.

Hey, it works great! Now if I could get 1.5.1 licence code to work - I think Im trying to use the express one since it says "wrong product" or something like that.

Make you experience easier and get a seperate computer for DVDXCOPY. :)

21stcdb -

Yeah, you could just buy another computer, or you could also just wait 2 weeks for the fixed version to be released.

Its not what you have installed thats the problem, its a hardware problem, as noted earlier in this thread. You could very well have the same problem buying a computer off e-bay and doing a fresh install.
