got dxc 141, works pretty well but I bought a stack of 100 4x Ritek dvd-r's and they skip and stutter at 4x occasionally but work well at 1x.
well guess what no choice of burn speed using either engine so Im stuck burning at 4x........... dont want to make coasters here
I know the following post:
----from 321/qa----
I'm sorry that I have missed your posts!
I have just asked the developers about adding the speed selector for the burning process and they said that it is not being added into the software at this time.
I believe that adding the speed selection option gave the program more problems than without it, so they have decided to leave it out for the time being.
---------------
says Gear wont do it but I *KNOW* Nero has support for changing the speed so WHY cant we change the speed using the NERO engine?
PLEASE WE NEED ANSWERS ON THIS
thanks

As far as I know.. the function that will allow a user to select a slower speed to burn at, will certainly be implemented in a future version of DXC. Which version that may be is unknown to me at least, but I suspect it won't be far off.
Cheers..

Absolutely. I have been 'pushing' for this feature since i learned that some players have issues with DVDs burned at speeds faster than 1X. Im guess that the reason why this happens has sometrhing to do with poorer error correction on some DVD player models but it's just a guess.. and so disks burned at 1X tend to have less minor errors on them, which better players can ignore or correct.. and so the lesser players can read them more easily.
Cheers..

I'm a great believer in a nice clean 1x burn. And the media is so much cheaper.

How does one even know what speed the disks are being burned at? DvdXcopy does not display the write speed as far as I can tell.

Roughly for the average DVD... the burn times indicate the following
1 Hour = 1X
1/2 Hour = 2X
1/4 Hour = 4x
Cheers..

agree a burn selector is necessary, eg to try to redo 2x coasters at 1x to fix .. and restore nero..
and add a VBR so we can fit on one disc..
and add sound alerts we can configure via wav files
and hey while youre at it, add a cappucino maker too lol ..
great program!

Just curious, but has anything been spoken of recently about adding this function? I have a Pioneer 105 and it burns at 2X with the Ritek G03 media, I really want to be able to drop that down to 1X without sacrificing the ability to burn the G03's at 2x, and also the better 12X read speed.

I think we're at a dead end with this one, no one seems to be listening.

I'm sure that 321 has made note of this request and if it is possible to make that function available they will...possibly in PLATINUM.
