Anyone get this tough little bugger to backup? I have over 700 store/swapmeet/yardsale or used-rental bought movies and have made over 350 successful backups but Sneakers is a real hair-puller! I'm using v.1.4.1 (Gear as usual/don't own and haven't ever needed nero).
The DXC readout for the movie is:
VM: 13 MB
TS_1: 4231 MB
4.15 GB Used / 0.24 GB Remaining (Start Normal) or
4.05 GB Used (Abandon Menu)(as low in size as I can get)
DXC "prepares" 4245MB of data for backing up (approx same size as explorer shows the video folder to be) BUT DXC only burns 3222MB of data. Whole chapters are missing. Not out of order ... just not on the backup disk at all!!!
It's not a chapter split problem. DXC only see's that it needs one disk to backup so there is no split to be made.
I'm sure that DXC is giving me erroneous size readouts and I don't care about that but I can't find a way to trick DXC into backing up this movie.
Also tried all four burn methods (Start Normal, movie keep menu, movie abandon menu), menu
What Kind of dvd authoring could mess up DXC to this extent? Original movie is in pristine condition so it's not a bad original.
ANYONE GET THIS MOVIE TO BACKUP??
Best regards and thanks

Post Script:
This movie rips SO FAST (on my Lite-On Reader) that the table shakes!! Anyone ever slowed down a drive to PIO transfer mode and gotten a more accurate "read"?

I had one movie (can't remember which) that I had to read with my Sony 500a. It would NOT read with my faster drive accurately. Might be worth trying to read with your Pioneer and then try burning it on a RW to see if that helps.

NOPE! Ripping in PIO mode or using the A05 to rip does not help.
Movie has 4245MB of data (and DXC says it has "prepared" 4245MB) BUT DXC only burns 3222MB of it, just like in my above, 1rst post.
ANYONE ELSE GOT A SOLUTION FOR "SNEAKERS"
Thanks

UPDATE:
kalittae's "Successful DVD Backups" website lists Sneakers as do-able in PAL format. I have only NTSC but what is significant is that the website says it takes TWO(2) disks to backup sneakers.
Does this relate to my 4245MB Prepared / 3222MB Burned problem ... Anyone?
Where is the missing 1GB of data ??? Some of this movie has gone walkabout! Can I get DXC to somehow use 2 disks instead of the one disk DXC only thinks it needs (see first post on this thread)?
Come'On handsome dudes and lovely ladies ... some of you must have Sneakers on your shelf. Give it a go or look back in your notes for a solution please. Has any one had a similar data "walkabout" problem with another movie ?
Thank You!

Whisperer,
I'll purchase a copy tommorrow, and see what I might be able to help you with on this. I like the movie. Are you still using Ritek's 1x -R?
Take care, be safe,

Thanks jaybo but don't buy it unless you really want to. This movie has been such a pain. I just can't stand to think there is a movie that I-I-I-! can't figure out how to backup. Still be interested if anybody knows how.
But, I just saw "Sneakers" at K-Mart for $5.88. ALL the Gods of Old are witness to the fact that I spent more than that on 3222MB coasters! (they heard my swearing). So I think I'll just buy a damn second copy.
Best regards
PS: they make us Senior Members. Are we gonna get a raise too?

Whisperer,
I really like the movie, it will be a great addition to my collection. Any chance you could PM me with some details, on the direction you were headed with this one? I went to the backup site and saw where someone copied it with one of the V1.4's. To me it looked like the movie was chopped to fit one disc. The pal version was done in two disc's. This sounds like a good challenge to keep me mind occupied.
"Senior Members", makes you sound pre retirement age, and I don't think I will spend the raise before I get it. hehe {:o))
Does this also get us a gold key to the washroom??
Never mind me other questions, I was being lazy by not reading deeper into your posts, sorry.
Be Safe,
Good Luck,
Jaybo

Whisperer,
Well, Just wanted to tell you I had to order this one, and can't wait to get it. I do have it on VHS. Sneakers is not only a challenge for you to backup, but for me to find. I then decided to let my fingers do the work.
I'll keep you updated, on my progress.
Take Care,
Jaybo

Thanks ... I don't envy you the effort and frustration of you trying this backup, but if you post something like "no problem, backed up fine" you are gonna see some WORLD CLASS ENVY!

We have it now also.
I'll give it a try in the versions that we're testing to see if it will be fixed with the update.

Guys, as I just indicated to Whisperer on Ver 1.5 problems, I backed up the same copy of Sneakers as posted by Jaybo with no difficulty whatsoever, using ver 1.5.

stollery,
I am wondering, about his rip speed, as I read his posts, his lite-on shakes the table. It makes me wonder how accurate the laser is on reading the VOB files.
I had no idea, he was posting a problem with V1.4.1 in a thread for V1.5 problems.
Besides, he hasn't answered me for awhile, must be hunkerd down some where.
Regards,
Jaybo

I made a copy this morning of Sneakers using DXC V1.5 and everything went smoothly.
I didn't experience the same problem.
You may try updating to V1.5 and see if that helps.

Jaybo - though this is not specific to DVD burners the fact remains that I've seen many, many high speed CD Writers in the store exhibit the same vibration problems. That's why when we're building machines with CD burners we try and use units that actually toggle "down" from stated maximum speeds to prevent vibration; giving the user the option to bump it up if they want, with the unit resetting when the computer is rebooted or the current disk is removed. Can't imagine why anyone would tolerate a burner that needs to be chained down to prevent vibration.

stollery,
You and I are thinking along the same lines, no need for bungee cords. :) If Whisperer toggles back his rip speed just a tad it may provide the answer. The disc to lens tolerance, is a factor,I am kicking around in my head. Maybe his Lite-on is experiencing another problem. I think he expressed that thought about getting another.
Anyway, hope he gets back up and burning Sneakers.
Good Luck,
Jaybo
