Help!!

I just downloaded xpress 2.0 and I got to
the reboot message then after rebooting
I get a error message stating drive select error will now close. I uninstalled and reinstalled and got same error. Also xpress does not appear to be installed at all. Any help would be great.

blazdawg,

DVDXpress, does not give you a desktop icon if I remember right, if you click the start button, files it should show up there. You need to install, when asked to reboot, click no.
Go to the 321 files and open the xpress folder, and install the driver files again. Then try and reboot.

Good Luck,
Jaybo

Hi, I am glad that someone else have the same problem. I have asked this question a couple of times and no one have replied...everyone just talk about the fact that how great the program is...blab..blab...blab.
Apparently...DVDXCopy Xpress use different copy engine than DVDXCopy (cause I have no problem installing DVDXCopy)..I think 321_studio should work on the installation routine some more.
Anyway...this is how you get out of the drive select error.
Install program...when ask to reboot...choose no...go to DVDXCopy Xpress folder and launch drive select once (remember if you have only one writer in your system...nothing will happen cause drive select take your only writer as default)...then reboot your system and you will able to start DVDXCopy Xpress.
Somehow you have to launch drive select once before the reboot to not have the illegal program error.
Also this illegal program error for drive select only happen after the installation reboot...you can actually run DVDXCopy Xpress or run drive select again without any errors.
Regards

Sorry guys, tried recommneded method of installing dvdcopy express to correct drive select error message. It didn't work for me. After i reboot and i try to start express, i get another message that says "DVDXcopyExpress:error
could not load its resources properly, please re-install. I do that and it still won't work. When i click on the drive select icon nothing happens, i guess it auto default to my dvd burner. Do you have to uninstall the other dvdxcopy ver first. A friend of mine says he runs both version, dvdxcopy 1.5 and dvdxcopy express ver2. Help someone!

olirey,

No you don't, put the disc you wish to copy in your DVD-rom,and go into the 321 file folder, click on the XPress folder and open it, Next click on the drive select. Then close out of all the files and folders. You should be good to go then.

Sorry Jaybo,
tried that, it still doesn't work. i downloaded the dvdexpress file, i wonder if that might have something to do with it? i do everthing mentioned to fix but i'm losing my patience. i'm afraid i'm running out of activations. i did exctactly as has been suggested, and now i still get "dvdxcopyexpress error: could not load its resources properly, please re-install.
The program acts like it want to work, i get the dvdcopyexpress icon, it pauses, the the error pops up. any more suggestion, or should i wait for an upgrade to dvdcopy express? on one of the installation i also got to click on the drive select icon and a window popped up, but my drive was not avialable, the choice was blank no burner was showing from the select list, therefore i couldn't make a selection.

I tried all of the sugestions above, but I am running into the same problem as Olirey. I keep getting the error message unable to locate drive. I can't get through to tech support not that they would be any help. I also removed all applications that might cause conflicts including dvdxcopy but it still doesn't work.

HELP!!!!!

When I run drive select I am having a similar problem but no error message comes up. I get the splash screen and then it goes away and nothing else. If I check Task manager the program is not running, but the executeable is still loaded. If I clear the drive info out of registry and try the program it opens but gives me an error that I need to run Drive select. But the program does see my movie in the drive. Only it shutsdown since I haven't run Drive select.
I have followed your suggestions for uninstall and reinstall, but the same results. I even updated my firmware.
Help!!!!!!!!

It may not have anything to do with your issue, but I see in your sig that you have a TDK420n. I have a TDK440n and I can't burn +r media using DXCX but -r/rw works fine. I cant burn -r/rw using DXC 1.5.x but +r/rw works fine. Could be a burner issue.

thanks for the responce ablindog.
Mine doesn't get that far. Drive select is blank and if I hit OK and try to open express all i get is the splash screen.
I checked my registry and the driveid is listed as -1, with not drivename. If I clear the -1 and leave it blank I get past the splash screen but the program closes with a drive select error, telling me I need to run drive select.
In both situations a log file is created. With drive select it's a 0 size file; without drive select it's 1k file that finds a move at E:

I installed the program on a system at work and it works fine. The registry has driveid 0 and has drivename info.

I have also have a CDR drive installed at home could that be the problem with drive select?

I would try removing your cdr, can't hurt. Also if you haven't tried and you have any software[Roxio] that might of came with your TDK,remove it. That cleared up a few oddball troubles that I was having.Good luck.

After trying various things including unistalling easy cd creater, somehow neither of my drives would work. The system would load drivers but not really recognize the drives. Fortunately that lead me to the answer.
Some cd-writing softwares adds entries to registry under UpperFilters and LowerFilters values. After deleting the values and rebooting, I installed express again and it works!!!!! For details on the fix check out Microsoft knowledge base article 314060. I'd list the registry key, but I've been known to get dsylexic at times. I hope this helps anyone else having problems.
