I have burnt a disc using Xpress ver 2.0.1 but the disc will not play on my ps2. I have used the same media with DXC and the discs play fine. I have tried a search and seen that someone else has had the same problem, however the only other search result I get back is the xpress 2.0 issues thread and I have tried to scan through most of the 70 pages but cannot find any mention of this. Does anyone know if this is a known issue or if there is any work around at all?

Thanks
Drel

Drel,
DXC and DXCX use different burning engines to burn the disk, which is most likely the problem.

When you made the disks that were playable in the PS2, did you use Gear or Nero?

If you used Nero, did you have to select the UDF flag?

If so that is why they are not working in the PS2.

You may try burning to a different type/brand of disk and see if that makes any difference.

I had the opposite problem. I used Pioneer dvd-rw with DXC using the regular Nero option and it played fine in my Toshiba dvd player. Tried Xpress on the same dvd-rw and it wouldn't play on my Toshiba but would in my PS2.

Hi,

I used the gear burner with both DXC and Xpress works fine with DXC but not Xpress, the media plays fine with DXC copy, same media does not work with Xpress. I'm guessing the problem is related to the way Xpress burns, just wondering if it is a known issue? I read here that someone said they could play discs in ps2 if using Xpress 2.0 but then it did not work when updating to Xpress 2.1. Is there anyway to get ver 2.0 so I can see if this version will work?

I dont know if this is helpful but here goes:

I have a PS2 version 1 and used a Sony DVD burner to backup my movies;

They played on my PS2 when done with DVDX and DVDXP using Verbatim DatalifePlus Version 2.0 dvd-r.

They did not work when using DVDXP and BeAll 2.0 dvd-r(even though they are marketed as being playable on PS2).

Hope this is helpful.

Sorry my last message needs a correction:

the BeAll V. 2.0 disk will play on PS2 using DVDXCopy (1.5.2) as well as the Verbatim.

Neither disk will play on PS2 Using DVDXCopy Express (2 - 2.5).

Hope this helps identify the problem.
