I am using express 2.0.1. Used several times, no problem, however, just now it gives the error message when beginning, "cannot write archive text", and next screen tells me the program has generated an error and will be shut down. What could the problem be? I reinstalled the program just to be on the safe side-still got the error message. Gateway Professional S P3-1700- 512 mg ram, hd-120 mb, sony DRX500 XL DVD writer. Running Win2k sp3

I have the same problem: I have been using DVDXCopy Express version 2.0 for some time without any problems. And all of the sudden a couple of days ago I got the "cannot write archive text" message. I un-installed and re-installed the software, and when that did not work I copied the "archive text"-file from the DXC folder and paste it into the DXCX folder, but that did not help either. I am also using the Sony DRU500ULX external burner.
Any suggestions would be welcome!

Have to ask if You`re using SCSI Drives and If Y`all went to the Sony Site and got The Latest Update for the Drive, something like 2a??
Also Do you have a Dedicated Drive for Just DVD??

I fixed it. I completely uninstalled express, and deleted the registry entries, restarted, and installed again. It worked! I hope it will for you!
Yes, I downloaded and installed the latest fireware upgrade for the Sony DVD writer a few days ago. No scsi, I usually use an external harddrive for dvd-about 90%, but have used other drives as well.

Hi guy,
Another suggestion

DXCX has a problem with temp folder when you specified only the drive name...thats why you get cannot write archive text...you have to specify the drive name and a folder name for it to work correctly.
DXC don't have that problem with temp folder.
Regards.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the suggestions,
but since I am a complete idiot as far as computers go, could someone please explain the following:
- how do I get rid of the registry entries?
- what are SCSI drives? How do I check that?
I thought SCSI meant "communication problems"
and it looks like I'm having some with DXC and DRU500ULX
- how and where do I specify the drive and folder name?
Many thanks in advance, I appreciate it!!

I do not recommend anyone messing with registry entries unless they know what they are doing. One change can cripple your computer! To get to the registry, go to "Run" and type in "regedit". Again, don't mess with it if you don't know what you are doing. The entries will be under either HKEY CURRENT USER or HKEY LOCAL MACHINE. Maybe another user can add more?

SCSI is short for "Small Computer System Interface", which is a standard high-speed parallel interface and used to connect SCSI peripheral devices such as hard disks and printers.

Hi, the temp folder is under option for DXCX.
I have been using default setting and one time I did change it to F: and I have the cannot write archive text error.
You have to specify F:/temp or something like that.

You want to be sure you have enough room on the drive you choose to write the temp file.
And yes Don`t forget the Folder on the Drive you use.

Thank you so much!!
It was the drive folder: I changed the name of the folder and forgot to re-select it under the options.. I feel quite stupid for noticing that before.
Thanks everyone!!
