hey all, if i put a movie into xcopy
and it offers to fit everything on one disc if extras are removed. should i roll with that ? or use express ? and why?

I have moved away from using DXC , except for when I back up an episodic disc like Deep Space 9 .I use Express even on single layer discs. Express sets up the DVD the way " I " like it with out having to play with all the drop down menus & choices.

It just copies & plays the movie. No futzing around.
Except for the 321 disclaimer , the Express copy goes right into the movie. No FBI, No green screens , NO English & French warnings, just the movie .

I actually prefer to play back Xpress copies instead of the originals. Some movies take upto a minute & a half before the movie starts.And then stops on a Menu. Pop the Xpress copy in & by the time you sit down the movie is playing. 7 seconds for the 321 disclaimer is not bad at all.

Xpress is easier to use & it is also faster. So if all you want is the movie use Xpress . It`s faster & easier to use.

but will the xcopy disc have both wide and full?
or does it strip out one to make it fit ?
i know express only has one or the other
when regular xcopy asks if you want to fit the main title in the first disc thats the main title in both full and wide true? or does it basicly turn into express and chooses a screen for you

Depends on the movie . Obviously some movies are ONLY WS or Full , so you will not have a choice.

But if there is an option , pick the one you want . In Express there is an options tab where you set your Default Settings. You pick Wide or Full screen, Language : English . Subtitles : None for no sub titles.

Express does strip out the one you do not want.

Do you want to compress all of MI & degrade the video . Or do you want an uncompressed copy of the version you do want.

With the Express 3.0 coming out soon & then Platinum. Mission Impossible is a good example for asking you : What do you want ???

3.0 will give you the option of compressing the whole disc 8+ GB`s down to a 4.7 GB Blank. OR taking whichever copy YOU want [ WS or Full ] uncompressed ,with room to spare.

If for example you never intend to watch the wide screen version because of the type of TV that you have , why compress & put on the disc a copy that you will never use ???? And also degrade [ possibly ] the video of the copy you do want. Never mind the extra time it will take......

i cant decide if i want double cases with the flap or one on each side , i cant decide what discs to buy , it took me an hour to decide if i wanted full or wide screen for the movie phonebooth last night..it was a flipper discs with wide on one side and full on the other
i did a back up of both as each one went on a single disc in xcopy im gonna watch them and switch back and forth. im gonna have a freferance soon. so far this movie was shot in a phoone booth so i need all the screen i can get. hey....what do you pick ?

I vote for Full.

Wide Screen might be bigger than the set it was filmed in . :)
