I can get the Usb 2.0 pcmcia card for my laptop today for about 20 dollars. I burnt a my first back up today and it took an hour and a half with Usb 1.1. What would the times be like with USB 2.0. Using pioneer a05

USB 2.0 is supposed to be something like 40 times faster. Assuming everything works , and the 1 1/2 hour is for reading & the burn. You should be able to get the time down to 30-45 minutes for the rip & burn.

Create a restore point before you get started , just in case.

gcrolla12 - before you can create a restore point we need to know which operating system you use.

Go to Programs then Acessories , then look for System Tools . Inside System Tools is System Restore. You want to create a new set point . Give it a name like " Before USB 2.0 " . It`s pretty self explanatory . Just read the screens . If you have a problem or do not understand something , come back here . Someone will help you out.

If it doesn't work you will also need to remove the card. I've installed it in 2 computers; a Sony Vaio and a Compaq Presario both with Windows XP. Don't install drivers that come with the card. When XP says to install drivers in a pop-up, click "cancel" and then go to the Windows update site and scan for updates. The XP driver should come up and you can install that one for your USB 2.0 card.
