Just got some double DVD cases, the black kind, and I need some inserts for the cover art. I can't seem to find them in Avery. Does anyone know who makes them?

You can go to dvdempire.com or dvdplanet.com which are discount dvd retailers and they show cover copies which you can save as jpeg and then use them in a photo editing and printing program. Once you do several to learn size and where to put front and back, it does a nice job.
I leave a .5" gap for the title on the edge and print it with a Word setup and paste it on the the gap. Makes a plain black and white showing on the shelf for titles.
The dvd cover websites charge for legit copies and they are large files and take longer.
Hope this might help.
If you have the art you don't need all of the above but I use high brightness white paper, 24lb or better and cut it to fit. 10.5" x 7.25" fits fairly well. When the art work is placed correctly it is quick and easy to trim with a paper cutter.

I get all my cover art at http://www.cdcovers.cc/ and http://www.dvdcoverart.com/dvdcoverart/

The first one, cdcovers.cc is real good. They have a lot of custom stuff too. Be warned though, this site has a nasty habit of trying to download Gator & Trickler software which sucks & is spyware. I have a firewall, so I know when they try and prevent a download.

I use regular stock, glossy paper in my Epson Injet. Works and looks great.

Let me know what you think,

Spaced,
Thanks for the help. I'm having trouble printing the entire cover with my printer. I have an HP DeskJet 932C that won't print the bottom of the cover. I'm not sure how to move the cover higher on the page.

what program are you using to drop the cover into before printing? I use Roxio's CD Creator, label creator app and it work fine. I just insert the cover into a generic template and then just strech it out to the borders of the template. I use an epson 785EPX. maybe you need to check your printer utility for layout?
Let me know how it works out,

darita,

Or use a 8 1/2 by 14" sheet of paper instead of a 8 1/2 by 11" sheet.

I use DVD Cover Print to print cover art. Their program works great for getting cover art to print to the correct size.

DVD Covers printout equals more ink waste equals MONEY WASTE! I only print the DVD labels and store them in a DVD/CD 100 wallet case.

Can also go to your local walmart and for around 10 bucks you can get a box of 25 matte dvd case inserts. It comes with memorex expressit design software then you got the software and templates with 25 inserts for low price. After use the inserts just use normal paper or whatever type you want to.

Like Spacedout I also get all my cover art at http://www.cdcovers.cc/ but he doesn't mention one of this site's best features. They have a small free app for download called Cover XP. This program allows you to print a standard DVD cover on a standard sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper. The cover art at this site has all been over scanned for better quality and when using the Cover XP program you can just drag the thumbnail from the webpage into your cover layout and the program renders the image for a perfect fit. It leaves small amount to be trimmed all around on the page when finished. You can do a one piece (back & front & spine) cover or if you want to do something custom you can use separate front and back images and custom text on the spine as well as background color.

Now all that being said ... I have found that with high quality paper needed and the amount of ink needed for almost 100% coverage on a full sheet of paper .... It's cheaper to get a color photocopy of the cover. Although the big "chain" stores like Staples won't do it - most small shops are thankful for the business.
